President and Chief Executive Officer Andy Albright announced on Monday that more than 2,500 participants enjoyed the event – the highest total ever – and more than 2,500 applications were submitted for the week of July 23 – the most applications since 2008 (the year most mortgage companies died).
The record-breaking week was also capped by a record level of giving to various foundations, charities and organizations.
Albright announced that more than $40,000 was committed to Tim Goad International, a ministry that specializes in helping impoverished children all over the world; $11,000 was given to the Caldwell Fellows program at North Carolina State University in recognition of kickoff speaker Benny Suggs’ appearance; in addition to other donations made to the Duke Children’s Hospital, Benjamin Byers and K-Love Radio.
The event was highlighted by keynote speakers Chris Gardner (“The Pursuit of Happyness”) and Patrick Kelly (“Tax-Free Retirement”), in addition to Suggs, Albright and many of NAA’s top agents from across the country.
“We had another successful weekend with our latest leadership conference,” Albright said. “We continue to improve what we offer our agents, and we keep raising the bar with our presentation and the quality of our speakers. I can’t wait to see what our team will come up with for our next national event in Raleigh in January.”
Gardner, the author of two best-selling books “Pursuit of Happyness” and “Start Where You Are,” fielded questions after his address and then signed copies of his book on Saturday afternoon.
Kelly, a best-selling author with more than 20 years of experience in the financial services profession, also signed copies of his book on Saturday night.
An optional worship service was held Sunday, featuring various speakers and entertainment from the Goad family – Tim and Gaye Goad and their children Blake and BreAnn.
