National Agents Alliance and Foresters partnering to help Feed The Hunger on July 21

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Roughly 300 volunteers from National Agents Alliance and Foresters are expected to help Feed The Hunger prepare more than 70,000 meals during a “Pack-A-Thon” at NAA headquarters on July 21 at 2:30 p.m.

The event will provide nutritious meals to children and families in need in Alamance County and beyond.

“We believe that you can make a difference in people’s lives in many ways,” NAA President and CEO Andy Albright said. “You can do it through giving money and by giving your time. With help from our friends and partners at Foresters Financial, we are doing that with this event right here in Burlington. I’m excited about hosting this event at our home office, and we know that the food will help thousands of people in need.”

Almost 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes every day. Hunger is not a food problem, but rather a distribution problem. Feed the Hunger is trying to help by getting nutritious food to places with children desperate for food. Their mission is to feed the spiritual and physical hunger in the needy.

Each year, NAA and Foresters Financial hold a “Delivering the Difference” event as a lead up to NAA’s “MISSION” Leadership Conference, which will take place on July 22-24, 2016. The Alliance has volunteered at Christmas Pack-A-Thons for Feed the Hunger for the past seven years, and this year, Feed the Hunger was selected as the Delivering the Difference beneficiary.

Albright said supporting local organizations like Feed the Hunger is part of The Alliance’s mission to “Have fun, make money and make a difference.” In two short hours of volunteering, Albright said the impact from this event will be massive.

During the event, volunteers were split up in teams and put together food packets. Each nutritious meal consists of four ingredients – dehydrated vegetables, a scoop of pinto beans, vitamin powder and rice. These ingredients, which together provide complete nutrition, are packaged in six-serving meal packets that are then weighed, sealed, and boxed.

“At Foresters Financial we believe in enriching lives and building strong communities, and this event is a perfect example of how we make our purpose a reality,” said Tony Garcia, President and CEO, Foresters Financial. “It’s wonderful to see Foresters Financial and NAA agents sharing a passion for helping out local communities and reminding us that a simple act can have a big impact.”

NAA and Foresters have a rich history of giving back to local families and communities. Previously, Delivering the Difference events have supported organizations like the American Red Cross, the Boys & Girls Club and KaBOOM!. In addition, volunteers have given back through school refurbishing projects around the world.
