BURLINGTON, N.C. – National Agents Alliance will serve as host for New Directions International’s “Feed the Hunger” banquet at its headquarters on Nov. 15, NAA President and Chief Executive Officer Andy Albright announced Wednesday.
The event will start at 6 p.m. and will feature a menu filled with exotic foods and fellowship. Seating is reservation only. For more information, please call 1-888-772-9634 or email NDI@newdirections.org to reserve your seats. Space is limited and the event is nearing a sellout.
National Agents Alliance, located at 1214 Turrentine St. in Burlington, N.C., has hosted the event for the past three years and donations collected will go to support the Feed the Hunger program, which provides food and spiritual guidance to at-risk children primarily in the United States, Caribbean, Africa and Asia.
“It’s always great when we can get behind a group of folks like our friends at New Directions and help out in any way,” Albright said. “The work they are doing to help reach out to children in need all over the world is tremendous and we are thrilled to be a part of such a good program that is focused on helping as many people as possible."
Last year’s event featured New Directions International CEO Joseph Williams and guests were given the opportunity to taste a rice dish that New Directions International packs to send to at-risk children during its bi-annual Feed the Hungry Pack-a-thon. Packages of this rice meal are sent to thousands of hungry children around the world each year and National Agents Alliance employees have participated in the Pack-a-thon during the last three years. The event featured tables grouped into sections that represented countries from around the world. Sections for Africa (Kenya), Asia (Bangladesh) and the Caribbean (Haiti) were set up with side dishes from each served with the meal, while the tables were decorated with artifacts and flags from each country.
New Directions International is an evangelical missions-based organization that reaches out to followers of Christian strategic leaders overseas who are reaching out to unreached and under-reached groups of people. NDI partners with them primarily through four initiatives: leadership training, building churches, self-support projects and children’s ministry. NDI is active in 23 countries around the world.
Dr. J.L. Williams founded NDI in Burlington, N.C. in the summer of 1968. The ministry’s purpose was to share the Gospel and encourage racial reconciliation through music. An interracial singing group was formed, and they began to travel domestically and internationally. As the needs of the worldwide body of Christ began to draw Williams’ heart to global evangelism, NDI made the full transition to international mission work in the 1980s.
