BURLINGTON, N.C. (December 7, 2010) – Foresters’ Darwin Hurme, an assistant vice president for U.S. sales, visited National Agents Alliance’s headquarters on Dec. 2 to meet with National Agents Alliance President and CEO Andy Albright.
Hurme said he was visiting to discuss the future of the relationship between National Agents Alliance and Foresters, while Matt Donaghue, Foresters’ national training manager, delivered a presentation on Foresters and its products.
Albright said it was always good to meet with Forsters’ representatives and discuss future ideas and goals for the partnership.
“Darwin is a great guy and we had a really productive meeting here at our headquarters,” Albright said. “We’re very excited about some of the plans we have for our relationship moving into 2011. National Agents Alliance and Foresters are both committed to helping protect families all across the country and that won’t change.”
Hurme said 2010 was another successful year for the partnership between National Agents Alliance and Foresters, which have worked together to help protect families since 2005.
“It was another great year for both of us and we exceeded our sales plan,” Hurme said. “We’ve seen some incredible or incremental improvements in quality of business as well, which is always the goal. Early on we were all about volume, but now it’s about quality of business and we are seeing nice gains in placement and persistency. With NAA’s guidance this year, we’ve got a plan coming out early next year, which we think will be a very good plan for both Foresters and National Agents Alliance. The plan will be called ‘Prepared’ and it should be coming out in February. National Agents Alliance has contributed to our success by helping us add one million members and that’s thanks to their hard work.”

Hurme said using a point-of-sale process on non-medical plans similar to Foresters’ PlanRight has produced a great amount of success with National Agents Alliance.
“The agent does a real-time interview and lets the client know their eligibility at the end of the call,” Hurme said. “It’s great for the agent because they know immediately if they have their client covered. If they don’t, they go back and put something else in place to help them immediately. We’re going to do that on smart universal life for the first part of 2011 and then we will be putting that same process on strong foundation.”
Back in 2005, Hurme said National Agents Alliance and Foresters forged a relationship based on the fact that both thought it made sense to team together.
“They were looking for a carrier and we were looking to diversify our distribution,” Hurme said. “They gave us a great opportunity by making us a known entity out in the insurance space. We’ve continued to have this climb from well down the rankings to reaching our goal of being in the Top 25 in only five years. It’s just been a time of incredible growth for us. The great thing about National Agents Alliance and Foresters is that it’s all about ideas and sharing. We’ve worked really well together for five years.”
