Foresters donates $25,000 to N.C. State EI in honor of Albright

RALEIGH, N.C. – Foresters presented members of the Entrepreneurship Initiative at North Carolina State University with a gift of $25,000 in honor of National Agents Alliance President and CEO Andy Albright and his wife, Jane on Jan. 23 during NAA’s National Convention at the Raleigh Convention Center.

Foresters, a fraternal benefit society that has offered member-based life insurance for more than 140 years, and NAA, an insurance marketing organization based in Burlington, N.C., have partnered for 10 years to provide life insurance to people across the United States.

The gift will be used to further the efforts at the Albright Living and Learning Village. Last year, the Albrights donated $500,000 to the Entrepreneurs Living and Learning Village, a residential community on Centennial Campus for student entrepreneurs. The Albrights’ gift marked the first named living and learning village at the university.

Foresters is one of the largest supporters of the Children’s Miracle Network and is very active with KaBOOM! and Ronald McDonald House charities. Foresters partnered with National Agents Alliance to make major upgrades at the Boys & Girls Club in Burlington, N.C. in July of 2014.

Tom Miller, executive director of the EI program, said the Foresters gift was a welcomed surprise.

“Our goal in the Albright Entrepreneurs Village is to provide an immersive, ‘learn by doing’ environment for the students to develop and practice their entrepreneurial knowledge and skills.” Miller said. “This goes way beyond the classroom. The generous gift from Foresters will help us provide the programming and experiences to prepare the Albright Scholars for the next generation of entrepreneurial leadership.”

Tony Garcia, president and CEO of Foresters explained to members of National Agents Alliance that he woke up two weeks at 3 a.m. on Wednesday and decided he needed to support the EI program because he was inspired by Albright’s work ethic and by Ebony Hinton, the director of the Albright Village, who spoke in Burlington back in July during NAA’s Leadership Conference.

“Andy had come to see me in Toronto late last year and talked about what the EI does,” Garcia said. “I said I cannot go down (to Raleigh) empty handed. I thought it would be a great idea to take some funds and help somebody. Your income is the outcome of serving and helping others and helping them get to go where they want to go in their lives.”

Albright, who co-founded NAA in 2002, was surprised with the gift during a managers meeting and immediately called Miller to share the news. NAA is one of the largest Insurance Marketing Organizations in the United States and has a sales presence in all 50 states. He said gifts like the donation from Foresters should serve as a shining example of how people can make a difference in the lives of others.

“It was a great surprise and it was very much appreciated,” Albright said of the gift. “To be able to partner with our friends at Foresters is great and their generosity reinforced an already strong foundation that we started building when we joined forces back in 2005. I can’t thank them enough for supporting Tom, Ebony and the students at the Albright Village.”

Garcia said Albright, who graduated from N.C. State in 1986, is always willing to help people improve, is a driven leader and just makes people around him better.

“It’s a small token of our appreciation for a 10-year partnership,” Garcia said. “I’ve been personally inspired by Andy and what he does. On behalf of the Foresters family, we want to say thanks, and we believe in what Andy does in creating the next generation of jobs. We are proud to have this affiliation with N.C. State and what they do.”
