Motivational speaker Eric Thomas to headline weekend of events at NAA’s ‘Fight To Unite’ National Convention

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – As the city of Charlotte prepares to host a huge NFL playoff showdown between the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, many people flocking to the Queen City this weekend are there for another major event.

National Agents Alliance, an insurance marketing organization, is hosting its “Fight To Unite” National Convention Jan. 10-12 at the Charlotte Convention Center. Organizers said 1,000 tickets have been sold for the event, which will only add an economic boost the city expects to get from a weekend when people are spending money on hotels, food and parking in hopes of being a part of Sunday’s NFC divisional playoff game.

NAA President and CEO Andy Albright said holding the event in Charlotte on such a big weekend has added to the excitement level building up to Friday’s kickoff.

“We were already fired up to be in Charlotte this weekend and seeing the success of the Panthers leading up to this week’s playoff game added more fuel to that fire,” Albright said. “We love Charlotte and can’t wait to see what the weekend holds for our team. I can’t think of better way to kick off 2014 than to be at the Charlotte Convention Center this weekend.”

Motivational speaker and author Eric Thomas, aka the hip hop preacher, will deliver the keynote address during the event on Saturday morning. Thomas, who has more than 147,000 followers on Twitter, released his first book “The Secret to Success” in 2013 and was one of the most sought-after keynote speakers for companies and seminars last year. His second book, “Greatness Is Upon You” is scheduled for release on Jan. 25 this year.

Previous NAA keynote speakers include: John C. Maxwell, Jon Gordon, Chris Gardner, Ric Flair, Jack McKeon and Dave Anderson.

National Agents Alliance has previously hosted its national events in Dallas, Texas; Los Angeles, Calif.; Atlanta, Ga.; Raleigh, N.C.; Baltimore, Md. and Las Vegas, Nev.

The event kicks off at 1 p.m. Friday, with special guests like N.C. Commissioner of Insurance Wayne Goodwin, Jenny Fulton (owner and president of Miss Jenny’s Pickles), The Goads and Albright, who co-founded NAA in 2002. NAA specializes in life insurance and financial services products in the U.S. It partners with companies like Mutual of Omaha, ING, Fidelity & Guaranty, Transamerica, Foresters, Columbian Financial Group, Baltimore Life and Phoenix Life.

After kickoff, agents will spend the rest of the weekend training and hearing inspirational stories from the top agents and managers with NAA, along with several guest speakers from various professional backgrounds.

NAA is headquartered in Burlington, N.C., employees 175 corporate employees at its home offices and has a sales force of thousands across the U.S. in all 50 states.
