BURLINGTON, N.C. – National Agents Alliance President and Chief Executive Officer Andy Albright traveled to San Antonio, Texas to spend two days meeting with Southwest Business Corporation Chairman Charlie Amato and Foresters President and Chief Executive Officer George Mohacsi on March 27-28.
Albright, Amato and Mohacsi met through their respective involvement with the Children’s Miracle Network and have remained in contact since then.
While in San Antonio, Albright and Mohacsi toured the SWBC office, which boasts more than 1,000 employees. Amato co-founded SWBC with Gary Dudley, a long-time childhood friend from East Texas, on April 1, 1976 with just $1,500 starting capital.
Amato entertained Albright Monday night in the owner’s box at a San Antonio Spurs basketball game. During their time together, the executives shared ideas and talked about the future of their respective companies.
“I’ve gotten to know Charlie Amato a little bit over the years and he is always a very gracious host when we visit his company,” Albright said. “It was a very productive couple of days where I was able to get to know even more about SWBC and Charlie. I look forward to spending more time with him in the future.”
Amato, acting as chairman, and Dudley, the company president, have guided SWBC into a diversified financial services company that provides a wide range of insurance, mortgage and investment services to financial institutions, businesses and individuals in all 50 states.
SWBC started with two people has grown into a corporation that consists of 1,200 employees and more than $1 billion per year in premiums and loans. The duo has also created four subsidiaries of which Dudley is also president: Employees Life Insurance Company, Financial Services Acceptance Corporation and Cotrak Insurance Services in California. The founders have also ventured into the real estate business and own 51 percent of Dallas-based Royalton Real Estate and own Lone Star Automotive.
