RALEIGH, N.C. – Bestselling author and motivational speaker Brian Tracy delivered the keynote address at National Agents Alliance’s “Key To Tomorrow” Leadership Conference at the Raleigh Convention Center on Saturday morning.
Tracy, who has released three books this year with a fourth expected to hit stores later this year, urged the 2,000 agents in attendance at the three-day event to implement a you-can-do-it attitude in their personal and professional lives to find success.
Tracy, citing research study after research study, said average people give up on a goal before they even try it. He told the audience not to take up residence at a fictional place called “Someday I’ll.” Tracy pleaded with those in attendance to make a decision to something or just move on. Taking action is what separates success from failure, he said.
“It’s real simple. It’s hunger, it’s desire and it’s ambition. If you really want it, you become like an irresistible force of nature,” Tracy said. “If you want to be successful and increase your income and achieve all your goals, nothing can stop you. There’s nothing on the outside that can stop you.”
A high school dropout
As a teenager, Tracy didn’t seem destined to become one of the world’s most well-known leadership authors and trainers. He dropped out of high school after a less-than-stellar senior year and wasn’t sure what he was going to do with his life.
Tracy ended up working on a boat and traveling the world for eight years. He was searching for a purpose and he ended up in sales, where he struggled until he figured out that he needed to emulate the successful people around him. Less than a year after following others, Tracy exploded and ended up with almost 100 people working under his guidance. He was 25.
Building the Tracy Brand
Tracy started writing books, creating training audios and seminars for others, helping him reach millions of people all over the world. He is a prolific author, who will publish four books before the end of the year – including “Kiss That Frog,” a book co-written with his oldest daughter Christina Tracy Stein.
You can do it!
Tracy encouraged The Alliance to say their goals out loud until it starts clicking in their mind and heart. Believing you can accomplish something is what separates good from great. Tracy said he practiced speaking positive thoughts with his children until they believed in themselves.
“We all have self-esteem that’s lower than it needs to be, so you build yourself up,” Tracy said. “The number one quality of the most successful people working in this business, aside from self-esteem and self confidence, is that they love what they are doing. They just love what they are doing. So how do you build up the amount of love you have for your work? Just say I love my work. Can it be that simple? Yes. You become what you say to yourself. So, if you say I love my work, you love your work.”
